Ishan Kishan backs SRH to breach 300 if top-order fires in IPL 2025 clash against MI

Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan believes his team can post a 300-plus total in IPL 2025 if the top-order gets off to a flying start. Ahead of their face-off against Mumbai Indians, Kishan said a big score isn’t planned in advance but shaped by match situations.

Kishan says SRH won’t set rigid targets while batting first

As Sunrisers Hyderabad gear up to play Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Match 33 of IPL 2025, Ishan Kishan addressed questions about whether SRH can touch the 300-run mark this season.

The left-handed batter, who moved from Mumbai to Hyderabad before the season, said such totals come only if the powerplay lays a strong platform.

“You don’t go out planning to score 300. When you’re batting first, you just play ball by ball, observe the pitch, and assess conditions. If the top-order fires in the first six overs, then yes — why not 300?” Kishan told JioHotstar in the pre-match chat.

Clear role at No.3 or No.4 helps Kishan play with freedom

Kishan also spoke about his batting position in the SRH lineup, where he has floated between No.3 and No.4 depending on the match situation.

“The number doesn’t matter much — it’s about understanding the scenario. If I come in early, I face pace in the powerplay. If I come in later, I focus on strike rotation and building partnerships,” he said.

He credited the SRH team management for defining his role clearly, which allows him to play with intent and freedom. He added that reading how many wickets have fallen helps him decide whether to counter-attack or consolidate.

Goosebumps in orange, but form still under scrutiny

The 26-year-old started IPL 2025 with a match-winning hundred against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad. However, his form dipped in the matches that followed. Kishan, who played for MI until last season, now returns to the Wankhede Stadium in opposition colours for the first time.

“I got goosebumps when I saw everything in orange. It’s a fresh start and I want to make it count,” he said earlier about his franchise switch.

With SRH currently mid-table and looking to push for playoffs, the upcoming clash against MI could be crucial for both teams.
