Kaneria Applauds Gambhir’s Straightforward Approach While Slamming Pakistan’s Cricket Struggles

Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has shared his views on the decline of Pakistan cricket, stating that everything is being taken for granted, which has led to the team’s poor performances. He called for stronger leadership and highlighted India’s Gautam Gambhir as an example of the type of coach Pakistan needs.

Pakistan’s recent 2-0 Test series loss to Bangladesh at home, which included their first-ever Test defeat to Bangladesh, has drawn widespread criticism. Speaking to Republic TV, Kaneria expressed his frustration with the Pakistan cricket team’s management and the board. He criticized the frequent captaincy changes, urging the cricket board to show more faith in the leadership and make tough decisions when necessary.

Kaneria remarked:
“Everything is taken for granted; that’s why the downfall of Pakistan cricket has happened. Stick to your captain, support him, and if he doesn’t perform after a year, make changes.”

He praised India’s coaching staff, particularly Gambhir, who recently succeeded Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach, saying:
“Why is the Indian team doing so well? They had Rahul Dravid, and now they have Gautam Gambhir, who is straightforward and makes tough decisions.”
