Team India’s wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul took to Instagram to extend warm birthday wishes to his father-in-law, the veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who celebrated his 63rd birthday on August 11. In his Instagram story, Rahul shared a touching message along with a photo of himself, Suniel Shetty, and Ahan Shetty, Suniel’s son.
“Happy birthday. May you continue to inspire all of us,” Rahul wrote, reflecting the close bond he shares with his father-in-law.
KL Rahul married Suniel Shetty’s daughter, Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, on January 23, 2023, in an intimate ceremony at Shetty’s bungalow in Khandala, Maharashtra. Since then, Rahul and Shetty have often expressed mutual admiration, both in public and on social media.
On the cricketing front, KL Rahul was part of the Indian squad for the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. The series was a challenging one for Rahul, who struggled to make a significant impact. In the first ODI, he scored 31 runs off 43 balls, but India and Sri Lanka ended the match in a tie, with both teams scoring 230 runs in their respective innings.
In the second ODI, Rahul was demoted to bat at No. 7 but was dismissed for a two-ball duck, contributing to India’s 32-run defeat. As a result, Rahul was dropped from the playing XI for the third and final ODI, with Rishabh Pant taking his place. Unfortunately, Pant also had a disappointing outing, scoring just six runs as India suffered a 110-run loss, allowing Sri Lanka to clinch their first ODI series victory over India in 27 years.
India will soon be back in action, with a home series against Bangladesh scheduled for next month. The series will include two Tests and three T20Is, with the first Test set to begin on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
KL Rahul will be eager to regain form and secure his place in the squad as India prepares for the important fixtures ahead. His fans and the cricketing community will be watching closely to see how he bounces back after a tough series in Sri Lanka.
