KL Rahul’s blistering knock gets praised even in Pakistan, The ex-RCB batter scored 93* against his former team

KL Rahul played a gem of an inning on Thursday against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He scored an unbeaten 93 off just 53 balls to take Delhi Capitals to their fourth successive win of the season. DC are comfortably placed at the top of the table. Rahul showed his class and ability to adapt to various situations.

RCB batting collapse

Batting first against DC at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, RCB batters did not have a great day. RCB has not had a great record at home. They lost their first match in Bengaluru this season as well. They started well as Phil Salt went berserk at the top. He was batting with a strike rate of over 200. However, a mix-up between Salt and Kolhi cost RCB Salt’s wicket. RCB were cruising at the time with 61 runs scored under 4 overs. That led to a series of wickets. Padikkal, Livingstone and Jitesh were dismissed for a combined total of 8 runs in 25 balls. Kohli was dismissed for 22 off 14 balls. Captain Patidar did not seem to be in the groove either, as he was out for 25. A late flourish from Tim David, 37 off 20, took RCB to a respectable total of 163/7.

KL’s class

In reply, DC lost quick wickets. The capitals were 3 down for 30. Faf du Plessos, McGurk and Abhishek Porel couldn’t contribute much. Axar was dismissed for 15. Just when it seemed like DC were in a spot of bother, the pair of KL and Tristan Stubbs joined hands. The duo ensured DC didn’t lose any more wickets.

KL scored a fluent 93, not out, off just 53 deliveries. He was 29 off 29 at one point but made up for it by scoring 64 off 24 balls later. He hit 7 fours and 6 sixes. Stubbs played a handy inning, too, with 38* off 23 balls.

Praise from Pakistan

Basit Ali praised Rahul for the inning, saying he single-handedly won DC the game. “KL Rahul single-handedly beat RCB. It was Rahul vs RCB. Pure class. Whenever he plays such knocks, he takes the game away. KL Rahul ne bola main hoo na Virat bhai and he chased it down. Virat is a chase master but today it was Rahul,” he added.
