Meghalaya Cricketer Himan Phukan Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Ruturaj Gaikwad After Maharashtra’s Dominant Win in Vijay Hazare Trophy 

After Maharashtra’s daunting win over Meghalaya in the Vijay Hazare trophy Meghalaya Cricketer Himan Phukan shared a picture with Maharashtra skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad on his Instagram account. Along with the picture, Himan heaped praises on the CSK captain and also expressed his love for CSK. 

Himan Phukan Heaps Praises on Ruturaj Gaikwad 

Maharashtra defeated Meghalaya in a dominating fashion by 9 wickets on Thursday. Following the game, Himan rushed to the dressing room to get a picture with Ruturaj Gaikwad. 

“With the Gold medal-winning Captain of the @indiancricketteam at the Asian games 2023. Captain of Maharashtra Cricket Association and the Captain to my all-time favourite IPL team @chennaiipl. @ruutu.131. What a calm and composed player you are and a great leader as well you make batting look as classy as they ever come. Was great playing against you yellow forever ”, Himan Phukan wrote on his Instagram story. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad was the captain of the Indian team that won the Gold Medal at the Asian Games in October 2023. Before that, he was appointed the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 following MS Dhoni stepping out of the role. He led the team to the final where they eventually lost to the Gujarat Titans. Nonetheless, Gaikwad has emerged as one of the top captaincy contenders within the Indian Cricket fraternity.

Maharashtra Defeat Meghalaya by 9 Wickets 

Speaking of the game, Maharashtra defeated Meghalaya in a rather dominating fashion. Siddhes Veer was the hero of Maharashtra’s win as he contributed with both the ball and the bat. Meghalaya had won the toss and decided to bat first. Siddhesh Veer’s 3 wicket haul helped Maharashtra restrict Meghalaya to a modest total of 113 in 37.1 overs. 

Chasing the target, it was once again Siddesh Veer who emerged as Meghalaya’s villain. Opening the batting, Veer scored 57 not out off 66 balls as Maharashtra comfortably chased down the total in 19.2 overs. The win propelled Maharashtra to the top of the points table in Group B.
