Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has finally broken his silence on the social media trolling he’s faced over his spoken English. Known for his calm demeanor and focus on the game, Rizwan addressed the criticism head-on in a press conference — making it clear that his priority is cricket, not language fluency.

Rizwan: “I Regret Not Finishing My Education, But I’m Not Ashamed”

Rizwan, who also captains the Multan Sultans in the PSL, was quoted by Geo News saying:

“I regret not completing my education, which is why I don’t know English. But I am not ashamed that as Pakistan’s captain, I cannot speak English.”

He went on to say:

“The demand from me is to play cricket, not to speak English. If Pakistan wanted English, I’d become a professor and return. But Pakistan asks me for cricket, not English.”

Social Media Trolls Target Rizwan’s English

Clips of Rizwan’s post- and pre-match interviews have often gone viral — not for cricketing insights, but for his broken English, sparking a wave of memes and mockery. Despite the online negativity, Rizwan’s graceful response has earned admiration, with many fans and analysts applauding his honesty and humility.

Pakistan’s Performance Woes Continue

Rizwan didn’t just talk about the trolls — he also addressed Pakistan’s poor run in recent tournaments, including their early exit from the Champions Trophy, where they lost back-to-back matches to India and New Zealand on home soil.

Following the tournament, Pakistan toured New Zealand for a limited-overs series. Despite the return of key players like Rizwan and Babar Azam, Pakistan endured a 4-1 defeat in T20Is and a 3-0 whitewash in ODIs, raising further questions about the team’s form.

Rizwan Urges Fans to Offer Support and Guidance

Acknowledging the anger and disappointment of fans, Rizwan said:

“Fans are justified in their anger, and they’ve all the right to be upset at us because they also love us.”

He also called for constructive feedback from legends and fans, citing how Wasim Akram gave valuable advice during the Champions Trophy.

“It’s fine to criticise the team, but also guide us on how to improve,” Rizwan added.

With the Pakistan Super League (PSL) back in action, Rizwan hopes the league can bring smiles back to fans — and provide a platform for Pakistan cricket to rebuild.
