As the Chennai Super Kings gear up for a must-win IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, all eyes are on MS Dhoni, who returns as captain following Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury. But before the high-stakes match began, a light-hearted moment stole the spotlight — MS Dhoni calling Dwayne Bravo a “traitor” in a cheeky exchange during the pre-match training session at Chepauk.
In a video that’s now going viral, MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo were seen sharing laughs as the KKR mentor walked into the CSK nets. Dhoni, spotting his former CSK teammate and bowling coach, jokingly said:
“The traitor is here.”
Bravo, taken by surprise, responded with a grin:
“Life is so unfair.”
The duo, who shared multiple IPL titles together with CSK (2011, 2018, 2021), embraced warmly. Bravo, now KKR’s mentor, imitated Dhoni’s signature movements, grabbed a bat, and then the two exchanged a fist bump, bringing nostalgia and excitement in equal measure.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out due to a hairline elbow fracture, CSK’s campaign has taken a sharp turn. Head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that Gaikwad would miss the remainder of the season but will continue to support the team from the dugout.
“An uncapped player – MS Dhoni – will now lead CSK for the rest of IPL 2025,” joked Fleming.
This return to leadership marks a crucial point for CSK, who currently sit ninth on the points table with just 2 points from 5 matches. Dhoni’s leadership is seen as the much-needed spark to revive the team’s playoff hopes.
The pressure is immense. CSK must defeat KKR tonight at Chepauk to keep their season alive. While KKR sit sixth with 4 points, the defending champions are desperate to bounce back after a string of underwhelming performances.
But with MS Dhoni back at the helm, the Yellow Army is hopeful of turning things around. The crowd at MA Chidambaram Stadium is expected to erupt with energy as the two giants clash — and as fans await a classic Dhoni finish.
