RCB Thrilled After WPL Win, Kohli Calls to Congratulate Team; Mandhana Reacts

Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s (RCB) Women’s Premier League (WPL) team secured their first-ever title on Sunday, defeating the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The celebrations reached a new high when former RCB captain Virat Kohli surprised the team with a video call.

Mandhana Overwhelmed by Kohli’s Enthusiasm

Smriti Mandhana, the RCB captain, spoke about the call in a post-match press conference.  While admitting she couldn’t hear the specifics due to the raucous crowd, Mandhana highlighted Kohli’s visible joy. “He looked really, really happy with a big smile. He’s been a part of this franchise for 16-17 years, so I could see the happiness on his face,” she said.

This positive interaction wasn’t the first between Kohli and the RCB women’s team. Mandhana revealed Kohli’s motivational presence during the last WPL season. “I remember last season, Virat bhaiya came into the camp and had a pep talk with us, which helped me personally a lot, and also the whole team,” she added.

Kohli’s WPL Dream for RCB

The celebratory video call wasn’t just about congratulations. Kohli, ever the passionate leader, shared his hopes for RCB. “Smriti, this year RCB will become the only team to win both WPL and IPL in the same year,” he declared according to Mandhana.

Adding to the excitement, Kohli reportedly left for Bangalore to join the WPL team’s celebrations.  His presence is sure to further motivate the team. Kohli himself will then be shifting his focus to the upcoming IPL season, where RCB is yet to claim a title.  This year, the team, including Kohli, will be aiming to create history.

Kohli’s Form and the T20 World Cup

With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, Kohli’s form will be closely watched. There are still question marks regarding his inclusion in the Indian squad.  However, his dedication to RCB, demonstrated by his interaction with the WPL team, suggests his commitment to peak performance.

The IPL season kicks off on March 22nd with a highly anticipated match between RCB and the Chennai Super Kings. All eyes will be on Kohli as he strives to regain his top form and potentially secure a spot in the T20 World Cup squad.
