Reports: India’s Squad for Champions Trophy 2025 to Be Announced on January 11

Team India Champions Trophy squad announcement is likely to happen on January 11. According to a report in Sports Tak, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the Champions Trophy squad for Team India on 11th January 2025.

The report also states that the deadline for announcing squads for the Champions Trophy 2025 is 12th January. Hence, teams need to finalise their squads before that. 

Champions Trophy Format 

The Champions Trophy will be played in a hybrid model, with matches hosted in Dubai and Pakistan. The tournament features eight teams, divided into two groups, competing in 15 matches.

India’s journey begins on 20th February against Bangladesh in Dubai. However, the most anticipated clash is the group-stage encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. This match will also be played in Dubai. 

The eight teams are divided into two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The final of the tournament will be played on 9th March. It will be played in Lahore. However, if India manages to qualify for the final, it will be played in Dubai.

Champions Trophy 2025 is likely to be Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s last ICC tournament. The 37-year-old is expected to lead the Indian contingent in the tournament. Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya are expected to be the first picks for India’s squad for Champions Trophy 2025. 

Out of favour batters, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are also expected to return to the Indian Team for Champions Trophy 2025. The duo has been performing well in domestic cricket and will likely make a comeback. Other notable inclusions could be Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rishabh Pant
