Rahul Dravid updates on Sanju Samson’s injury. Samson to not feature against RCB

Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid has dropped a big update on Sanju Samson’s injury. RR will miss their captain against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Samson previously missed the game against the Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur. It is learnt that he won’t even travel with the squad to Bengaluru.

Injury to Samson

Samson came into the season with an injury. For the same reason, he played as an Impact sub for the first three games. Riyan Parag was the captain of the side for the duration. Later, Samson took back the captaincy when he recovered from the injury.

In the game against the Delhi Capitals, Samson suffered an injury. Batting against spinner Vipraj Nigam, he missed a short ball. The ball hit him in the ribs. He had to retire hurt after playing a ball, as the physio attended to him.

He subsequently reported abdominal pain and rested against the Lucknow Super Giants. In his place, teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi was given a chance. Young Suryavanshi impressed everyone with his strokeplay.

Dravid on Samson’s injury

Talking about Sanju Samson’s injury, Rahul Dravid has said that his fitness will be evaluated on a ‘day-to-day basis’. He stated that Samson won’t feature in the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Furthermore, he won’t even travel to Bengaluru and instead, rest in Jaipur under a medical team.

“Sanju couldn’t play the last game (against LSG), and for this game, our medical team did not rule him fit to play. So we took the decision not to risk his travel to Bengaluru. We will try and get him back as quickly as possible. I have no timeline as to when exactly he will be fit,” Dravid said at the pre-match press conference.

Dravid also talked about Riyan Parag and his captaincy skills. He praised Parag and said he knows the pulse of the game really well. He said, “I think he’s getting the pulse of the game really well for someone who’s so young and just starting out with captaincy.”
