Sachin Tendulkar Joins Melbourne Cricket Club as Honorary Member

Sachin Tendulkar has added yet another feather to his illustrious cap. On Friday, December 27, the Melbourne Cricket Club named the Indian maestro an honorary member in recognition of his monumental contributions to the game of cricket. The MCC, Australia’s oldest sporting club, announced the honour through its official X account, terming Tendulkar an “icon” of the sport.

MCC Announces Sachin Tendulkar as its Newest Member

The MCC was formed way back in 1838. It is an institute held in high regard by cricketing history. Sachin Tendulkar joining the list of legends with honorary membership from MCC places him in the very exclusive list of legends, which have left a stamp on the game that never fades away. 

“An icon honoured. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game.

Tendulkar’s career stats are jaw-dropping. He represented India for more than 24 years. He played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs, and one T20I. Over his international career, he amassed more than 34,000 runs, holding both the records of the highest number of runs scored in Test and ODI cricket.

It is unforgettable how Tendulkar performed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). In five Tests and seven ODIs, he made 449 and 190 runs respectively. One century and three fifties in Tests make him India’s top Test run-scorer at this iconic stadium.

His matchups against Australia, especially on their home turf, are the stuff of cricket folklore. He played 39 Tests against the Aussies and piled up an incredible 3,630 runs
