Allrounder Samit Dravid has been named in India’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming home series against Australia Under-19. This marks his debut selection for the national junior team, showcasing a significant milestone in his budding cricket career.
Leadership Appointments for Upcoming Series
Mohamed Amaan, a middle-order batter from Uttar Pradesh, will captain the 50-over squad. Soham Patwardhan from Madhya Pradesh will lead the team for the four-day matches. Both players have been recognized for their leadership and performance in domestic cricket.
Samit Dravid’s Recent Performance
Dravid, the son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, is currently playing for Mysuru Warriors in Karnataka’s Maharaja T20 Trophy. He has impressed with his performance, scoring 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 in seven innings. Despite his strong batting, Dravid has yet to bowl in this tournament.
Notable Achievements in Domestic Cricket
Earlier this year, the 18-year-old Dravid played a key role in Karnataka’s victory in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He accumulated 362 runs and took 16 wickets across eight matches, including two crucial wickets in the final against Mumbai.
Series Schedule and Fixtures
India Under-19 will face Australia Under-19 in a series comprising three 50-over games and two four-day matches. The 50-over games are scheduled to be held in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26. The four-day fixtures will take place in Chennai, starting on September 30 and October 7.
