Indian cricket sensation Shubman Gill recently shared glimpses of his vacation in Greece on Instagram, taking a well-deserved break before the upcoming 2024/25 home cricket season. The young opener, who has become a crucial part of the Indian cricket team, has been unwinding in the picturesque locales of Greece after a busy international schedule.
Gill’s vacation comes on the heels of his participation in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he had a challenging time, managing to score just 57 runs across three matches. Despite this, Gill remains an integral player for India, particularly with the upcoming home season, which kicks off with a Test series against Bangladesh on September 19, 2024.
The 24-year-old, who also serves as the captain of Gujarat Titans in the IPL, shared photos from his Greek retreat, sporting a casual white shirt, dark blue trousers, and a stylish hat. His caption, “Selectively social > Antisocial,” reflects his approach to balancing his public life with moments of personal solitude.
Leadership Role in Duleep Trophy
In addition to his national duties, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of Team A for the Duleep Trophy, set to commence on September 5, 2024. This tournament marks the start of the Indian domestic season and offers Gill an opportunity to regain his form before the critical Test series against Bangladesh.
Team A, under Gill’s leadership, boasts a strong lineup that includes seasoned players like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and promising talents such as Tilak Varma and Dhruv Jurel. This squad is expected to showcase competitive cricket, with Gill aiming to lead from the front and inspire his team to victory.
Shubman Gill’s International Career
As one of India’s most promising young cricketers, Shubman Gill has already made a significant impact in all formats of the game. In 25 T20Is, he has consistently contributed at the top of the order, while his ODI record in 47 matches reflects his potential to become one of India’s leading batsmen. In the longer format, Gill has played 21 Tests, scoring 1,492 runs at an average of 35.52, including four centuries.
