Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face a major setback as their star all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga, is set to miss the entire IPL 2024 season due to a left heel injury. Hasaranga requires more time for rehabilitation and will not be able to join the SRH camp as expected.
According to the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Ashley de Silva, Hasaranga’s heel injury has caused swelling, and he has been playing with injections. Hasaranga has decided to prioritize his rehabilitation before the upcoming World Cup, leading to his decision to skip the IPL this year.
Contrary to earlier reports, Hasaranga’s manager confirmed that the spinner will join the SRH camp “sooner than later.” The manager dismissed any suggestions that Hasaranga’s decision was influenced by financial factors, emphasizing that the player’s priority is his ankle’s well-being and his responsibility as the captain of the Sri Lankan national team.
Hasaranga will travel to Dubai to seek expert advice for his heel, indicating the seriousness of his injury and his commitment to ensuring a full recovery.
SRH will now have to adjust their strategy and lineup for the IPL 2024 season, as they will be without one of their key players. Hasaranga’s absence will be felt both on the field and off, as he is known for his exceptional all-round skills and leadership qualities.
