He was looking to make an impact but failed to do so, continuing his recent string of poor performances. Hooda’s dismissal added to LSG’s woes, as they were struggling to capitalize on the powerplay overs. Despite replacing Devdutt Padikkal in the lineup, Hooda failed to provide the much-needed impetus, leaving LSG in a challenging position early in the innings.
Ramandeep takes a diving catch
The catch by Ramandeep Singh was a sharp and crucial one. The ball was bowled by Mitchell Starc, pitched on a length and well wide of off-stump, enticing Deepak Hooda to go for the open-faced drive. Hooda, seeing the width, went hard at the ball, but it took the outside edge and flew to the right of backward point.
Ramandeep Singh, stationed at backward point, showed great reflexes and athleticism. He quickly moved to his right, diving full length to reach the ball. Despite the ball being slightly out of reach, Ramandeep stretched out both hands and managed to grab the ball cleanly before it could touch the ground. It was a smart catch considering the speed at which the ball was traveling and the need to cover a significant distance.
The catch was crucial as it dismissed Deepak Hooda, who was looking to stabilize LSG’s innings. The wicket put LSG in early trouble once again. KL Rahul and Ayush Badoni are looking to rebuild the innings to help LSG put a strong total on the board.
