Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting sensation Sameer Rizvi has openly expressed his admiration for two of India‘s cricketing legends, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Rizvi, who was signed by CSK for a substantial INR 8.4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, regards Dhoni as his inspiration and idol.
MS Dhoni: The Idol and Inspiration
Speaking in an interview with News24, Rizvi revealed that playing alongside MS Dhoni in his debut IPL season was a dream come true. Despite a challenging first season, where he scored just 51 runs in eight matches, Rizvi continues to hold Dhoni in high regard, citing him as a major influence on his career.
“MS Dhoni is my idol and my inspiration,” Rizvi said to News24.
A Fan of Virat Kohli
Rizvi also praised Virat Kohli, mentioning that both he and his sister are big fans of the former Indian captain. Rizvi recalled a memorable moment from IPL 2024 when he hit two sixes off Rashid Khan, showcasing his potential as a finisher.
“I am a fan of Virat Kohli. And My sister also is a big fan of Virat Kohli,” RIzvi stated.
Sameer Rizvi added , “Virat bhaiya is such a nice person. When I met him, he talked to me so nicely & whatever I asked him, he explained so well. I feel so good to talk to him”.

Current Form and Future Prospects
Currently playing in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League 2024, Rizvi is in fine form, having scored 170 runs in four matches at an average of 42.5. As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, it remains to be seen whether CSK will retain him or if he will enter the mega-auction pool.
