King Kohli ready for IPL 2025, joins the RCB camp

RCB’s hopes lie on Kohli

With IPL 2025 just a week away, preparations for the mega tournament are in full swing. Amidst all this, Virat Kohli, arguably the biggest star of the tournament, has joined his team. The former Indian and RCB captain is coming fresh from a successful campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy where he scored 218 runs. Kohli also scored his 82nd international century in the match against arch-rival Pakistan. 

RCB in transition

Royal Challengers Bengaluru is going through a phase of transition with a new captain. Rajat Patidar, a star for the side over the last few seasons, is going to lead the side this time. Faf du Plessis, RCB’s previous captain, was not retained ahead of the mega auction as he moved to Delhi Capitals. With the mega auction changing the dynamics of all the sides, it would be interesting to see how RCB perform this season.

Long wait for glory

The Bengaluru side has been one of the favourite teams among fans. Stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Dale Steyn have played for the team, making it fans’ favourite. However, the team has not been able to win the tournament even once. The wait for glory continues for the team. However, with a major change in the team and a new captain, fans would hope it will change the fate of the team too. Virat Kohli would be at the centre of it again with fans expecting him to perform. The highest scorer in the tournament has carried the side on his back for a number of seasons. Kohli has the record for the most runs scored in the tournament with 8004 runs. He also holds the record for the most runs scored in a season with 973 runs in 2016. He scored 741 runs in 2024 too, winning the orange cap.

RCB vs KKR

IPL 2025 will begin with the much-awaited encounter between RCB and KKR at Eden Gardens on March 22. KKR, the defending champions, will be looking to start their campaign on a strong note at home.
