Virat Kohli says he might not tour Australia again.

Kohli drops a big bomb

Virat Kohli has dropped a big bomb ahead of IPL 2025. The 36-year-old has said that he might not have another Australia tour in him and that he is at peace with whatever happened in the past. The speculations about Kohli’s retirement plans have been widespread, especially after his retirement from T20Is last year. Virat ended his T20I career on a high, winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. He also played the match-winning knock in the final, scoring 76 runs and claiming the Player of the Match award.

Virat in Australia

Australia has been a special place for Kohli, where he has had a lot of glorious moments in his career. He has scored 1542 runs in Australia with 7 centuries. In ODIs too, he has scored 1327 runs with 5 centuries. In T20Is, he has scored 747 runs in Australia at a staggering average of 74.7. Arguably, his best T20I performance also came in Australia against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup where he scored 82 runs.

In the recent Test series in Australia, Kohli started off well with a century in the first Test at Perth. However, he wasn’t at his best in the rest of the series. He ended the series with 190 runs at an average of 23.75.

Upcoming tour of Australia

India is set to tour Australia later this year for a 3-match ODI series. Kohli’s statement raises questions about his presence on the tour. Furthermore, if Kohli doesn’t tour Australia for the ODI series, will it be curtains on his ODI career as well? Has Kohli already played his last World Cup match? Fans all around the world are struggling with these questions.

Fans tensed after Kohli’s statement

Kohli’s form, especially in red-ball cricket, has not been great over the last few years. His weakness outside the off stump has been used again and again by bowlers to lure him into the drive and make him edge one into the slips. His limited-overs performance, however, has been much better. He was the leading scorer in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. It is up to Kohli now to decide what his future holds. It will also be important to see how he performs in the upcoming season of IPL.
