Deadline Approaches for IPL Auction Player Registration on November 30

The countdown to the IPL 2024 auction intensifies as November 30 marks the final day for players to register for the much-anticipated event. Over 700 players are expected to submit their names, accompanied by No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from their respective cricket boards. The auction itself is slated for December 19.

Several prominent names are anticipated to feature in this extensive list, with notable World Cup performers such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, and others expected to be the top draws for franchises.

Mitchell Starc, in particular, is likely to be in high demand, despite his history of making himself unavailable after being acquired in previous auctions. Sources close to Cricket Australia reveal that at least five franchises have expressed interest in the left-arm pacer, placing him prominently on the marquee list.

Following the player registration, franchises will have the task of trimming the list as they prepare for the auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) anticipates around 70 players to be sold during the auction. The BCCI has set a limit of transactions totaling up to INR 262.95 crore, with 77 available slots across the 10 squads. Teams can also acquire up to 30 foreign players.

While Ben Stokes has already withdrawn, there is speculation about the availability of Jofra Archer, recently released by Mumbai Indians. Additionally, there are indications that Josh Hazlewood may make himself available for the league after being released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The IPL is expected to take place from the third week of March to the third week of May, allowing sufficient time for players and boards to prepare for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence on June 3.

As the deadline approaches, the cricketing world awaits the final list of players who will be up for grabs, adding excitement and speculation to the lead-up to the IPL 2024 auction.
