In a major boost for Mumbai Indians, skipper Hardik Pandya confirmed the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma ahead of their high-voltage encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 20 of IPL 2025.
The clash is being held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where MI won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Rohit Sharma, who missed the previous game due to a knee injury, is set to feature as an Impact Player. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah marks his long-awaited comeback, having last played during the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy before being sidelined with a back injury.
He missed the Champions Trophy as well, making his return all the more significant for MI’s struggling campaign.
“We are going to bowl first. The wicket looks good and with the possibility of dew setting in, chasing could be easier,” said Hardik at the toss. “It’s time we find our rhythm. We’ve been playing good cricket, just missing the crucial moments. Having Jassi (Bumrah) and Ro (Rohit) back gives us that extra push,” he added.
Mumbai Indians are currently placed 8th on the points table with just one win from four matches. The return of their two senior-most players could provide the much-needed momentum for the five-time champions, who are eager to turn their campaign around in front of a home crowd.
Hardik stressed the importance of playing at Wankhede. “This is our fortress. The crowd always backs us and we know the conditions here well. Now it’s about making smarter choices on the field,” he stated.
