Indian batting great Virat Kohli is known for his innumerable records. Adding another feather to his cap, the former RCB captain completed 13,000 runs in T20 cricket.
Playing against the Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli achieved the feat. He struck a four against Trent Boult on the last ball of the third over to take him to the milestone. Kohli was seen in good form on Monday as he took the attack to the Mumbai Indians. He did not spare even Jasprit Bumrah, who was returning from an injury.
Kohli is the first Indian to reach the elusive mark. He stands fifth worldwide on the all-time T20 runs in Men’s cricket. Notably, he has achieved this feat in just 386 innings. While Kohli has retired from T20Is, he continues to play IPL. Thus, his overall numbers are only going to go up. Moreover, the batter has been in good form this season. One can expect him to score a lot of runs by the end of IPL 2025. Kohli was the Orange Cap holder last year as well.
Kohli is placed fifth on the list of most T20 runs in Men’s cricket. The list is topped by a name that rules most lists of T20 cricket. Chris Gayle, with 14,562 runs, leads the list. Interestingly, Gayle has played the least number of innings (381) among the top five batters. He is followed by England batter Alex Hales, who has scored 13,610 runs in 474 innings. Shoaib Malik, the former Pakistani batter, is placed third with 13,557 runs in 487 innings. The fourth position is occupied by Kieron Pollard. Pollard scored 13,537 runs in 594 innings.
Along with completing 13,000 runs, Kohli scored another half-century playing against the Mumbai Indians. He played a beautiful knock of 67 off 42 to take his team to a flying start.
