Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team captain, has been struggling for form for some time now. He has not been able to score big runs since last year. After his struggles in Test cricket, he is also struggling in IPL 2025.
RCB set up a huge target of 222 against the Mumbai Indians. Virat Kohli and captain Rajat Patidar scored brilliant half-centuries to take their side to the competitive total. Rohit Sharma, opening for Mumbai Indians, struck a six against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over, showing his intent. The batter had missed out on featuring in the last match against LSG. He had suffered a blow on his knees during net practice. So, he was making a comeback against RCB.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar brought in left-arm seamer Yash Dayal in the second over. Rohit hit two consecutive boundaries on Dayal’s bowling. However, Dayal had the last laugh as he took revenge on the fourth ball of the over.
Dayal castled Sharma with a peach of an inswinger. The ball jagged back sharply and beat Rohit’s bat. Sharma walked back with the score of 17 off 9 balls.
Dayal was brought in specially for Rohit. The batter has had issues against the left-arm seam for a while. Thus, RCB bowled Dayal before Hazlewood, their prime bowler, to dismiss Rohit. The plan worked.
RCB have posted a huge total against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, they took the MI bowlers to cleaners. With fifties from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, followed by finishing touch from Jitesh Sharma, RCB scored 221/5.
In a thrilling run chase, Mumbai Indians came close to the RCB total. But they were not able to reach the target. RCB defeated MI by 12 runs and took another 2 points from the game. RCB won a match against Mumbai Indians in Wankhede after 10 years.
