James Pamment has been appointed the fielding coach for the Bangldesh cricket team. The Bangladesh Cricket Board made the announcement recently. He will be holding the position till the next ODI World Cup in 2027.
James Pamment comes as a replacement for Nic Pothas. Pothas used to hold the fielding coach for Bangladesh till January this year. He then left the job. Pamment is the new coach and will be joining the team in April. He is expected to be with the team before the two-match series against Bangladesh.
Besides Pamment and Pothas, Bangladesh have had the services of Ryan Cook and Shane McDermott as the fielding coaches in the last few years.
Ahead of starting his new assignment, Pamment expressed his excitement for the role. He said he looks forward to working with the talented Bangladesh side. He said, “I am really excited about the opportunity to get involved with a very talented Bangladesh side. I am eagerly looking forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series.”
James Pamment has a significant amount of experience in the position. He has trained top sides as a fielding coach. He has worked with the Mumbai Indians as the assistant coach since 2018. He specialised in fielding and running between the wickets.
Pamment also has international experience under his name. He has coached the New Zealand side before. He was the fielding coach and specialist technical advisor. He worked in NZC as a high-performance coach as well.
