India’s star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, has shared his excitement over rejoining the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a major IPL trade. The move, part of an all-cash deal, marks a significant return for Pandya to the franchise where he initiated his IPL career in 2015. Pandya spent the last two seasons as the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), leading them to an IPL title in their debut season in 2022.

The trading window remains open until December 12, allowing for such strategic player movements. Despite being retained by GT on the deadline day, Pandya’s return to MI became a reality through the ongoing IPL mega trade.

The official IPL statement recognized Pandya’s significant contributions to GT, highlighting the fairytale start in their debut season and the runner-up finish in the second season, where they faced a last-ball defeat in a thrilling final earlier this year.

Following Pandya’s departure, GT has named Shubman Gill as the captain for IPL 2024, signaling a new leadership era for the franchise. Meanwhile, in another major trade, Australia’s all-rounder Cameron Green has joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from MI. Green, bought for a substantial Rs 17.5 crore at the auction ahead of the last season, showcased his capabilities in 16 matches, including a century and two fifties.
